For many years our "Introduction To Housing Benefit" Workshop has been very well received by all those attending, as either new starters to the benefits world, or simply wanting a refresher course on all the key issues.

AN INTRODUCTION TO HOUSING BENEFIT (TWO-DAY WORKSHOP)
A Workshop that is always very well received, providing a general overview of a wide range of Housing Benefit topics and is ideal training for people new to housing benefit work or those requiring a refresher on many of the key topics.
Suitable for new starters, or those wanting a ‘refresher’ to build confidence, who work in housing benefits, welfare benefits, housing advice, customer contact centres, rent recovery or income management roles.
Over an information packed two days this Workshop focuses on the needs of Benefits / Housing / Welfare Advice / Customer Services Staff who need to know the main features of Housing Benefit & Council Tax Reduction to be able to confidently advise customers on the basic rules of housing benefits and how they fit in with the wider world of different benefit entitlements.
The Workshop provides an excellent overview of a wide range of issues involved when dealing with Housing Benefit enquiries. The course content and worked examples will reflect all the latest allowances and the various rule changes that have taken place. It will specifically look at how Housing Benefit rules and changes impact on day-to-day advice work. Topics to be covered over the two days will include:
The course will also include a brief overview of the latest news and relevant changes arising from the Government's Welfare Reform Programme, and is regularly updated to reflect the changing role of Housing Benefit alongside Universal Credit, outlining the key issues that front-line staff need to be aware of when dealing with enquiries from the public.
The Workshop is particularly suited for staff that are relatively new at dealing with Housing Benefit assessments or who advise tenants on their benefit entitlements, or those simply wanting to build their confidence by attending a course that enables them to look at the key basic rules on a wide range of housing benefit issues. It is aimed at people from a range of backgrounds working in the field of benefits advice.
By means of presentations, discussions and exercises our presenter, Andy Thurman (a well-known specialist HB trainer who has provided this course for many years), will provide a fact-filled programme covering the most up-to-date information available. Helpful course notes and examples will be provided throughout.
